Launched in 2005, the Seiko Sportura Kinetic Chronograph still looks futuristic today. Limited to 2,005 pieces, inspired by high-performance sports cars, and powered by an absolute peach of a Seiko movement, this reference SLQ019 is a no-longer-made highlight of the Sportura collection.
This watch was designed and made by the watch boffins of Grand Seiko and the look and feel of this watch certainly attests to this heritage.
Here we have the Pre-Owned Seiko Sportura Kinetic Chronograph SLQ019 Super Rare, Ref. 9T82-0AF0
Case:
This watch comes with a case diameter of 42mm and is made from Stainless Steel with a Black Carbonized Titanium coating. It is kind of tonneau shaped and features a black screw down crown and two black chronograph pushers which all have contrasting orange elements (matching 3 of the dials).. To the rear is an exhibition case back so you can see the wonderful kinetic movement. The edging of the exhibition case back has various engravings including the Limited Edition number of which this watch is number 1193 of 2005 made
Dial/s:
The dials, of which there are four, comprise of the ‘Main’ dial which is black in colour with white Arabic Numerals and baton indices with white and lumed hour and minute hands with a contrasting orange seconds hand. The other three dials are all bright orange and are the chronograph dials. These are hour, seconds and 1/10th seconds sub dials and each have black tracks and hands. There is also a small date ‘dial’ for the date complication. All the dials and the exhibition case back are Sapphire Crystal treated with an anti-glare coating.
Movement:
This watch is powered by the highly sought after hand assembled Seiko Caliber 9T82. The 9T82 is a highly advanced and complicated version of 1998’s Seiko A.G.S. that incorporates a 12-hour chronograph capable of measuring down to 1/10th of a second. When new, the power reserve was about a full month once fully charged through regular daily wear. This is only negatively affected by the excessive use of the chronograph — used it just a couple hours a day and power reserve won’t be affected. If you rely on the chronograph for longer than that, the energy required to drive its hands will deplete the power reserve a bit faster — but, thanks to the extremely high energy efficiency of its components, you won’t ever have to really worry about your Seiko Sportura Kinetic Chronograph stopping.
I have tested this 21 year old watch and after initially powering up the watch by the recommended waving slowly from side to side about 400 times, I put the watch on and wore it the whole day and evening and it was fine, after leaving off overnight, it was stepping in the morning and required some more waving before wearing again with no issues. Regular daily wear will likely negate the need for this watch to be waved in the mornings.
Strap/Bracelet:
The watch comes with the original black leather with orange stitching two piece strap with a Stainless Steel pin buckle with a black carbonized Titanium coating. The strap is fully functional and not broken, ripped and is in good condition considering it’s age but it has been worn.
This watch does not have the original box or paperwork.
The condition of the watch is very good with very little visible wear for a watch 21 years old. The strap is in a fair to good condition. The watch is dated to approximately 2005. (Please refer to the photographs).
Please note that the movement has not been professionally tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense.
When purchasing a watch for delivery outside of the UK, all local Customs Authority charges i.e. VAT and import charges etc. are the responsibility of the ‘Buyer’ and are not included in the sale price of the watch.
The photos form part of the description.
