The Seiko SQ100 is a highly regarded, vintage Kinetic sports-dress watch manufactured in the 1980s and 1990s.

Case:

This watch comes with a case diameter of 40mm and is made from Stainless Steel with a fixed gold plated bezel which has rubbed off the front. On the side of the case is the crown and power reserve indicator button. To the rear is an exhibition case back with the model number and serial number engraved around the edge of the window.

Dial:

The dial is black with silvered applied indices and silvered and lumed hands. There is a date complication at 3 o’clock which has both English and German days, the days are also coloured: Mon-Fri is white, Sat is blue and sun is red.

Movement:

This watch is powered by the Seiko Caliber 5M43 Kinetic movement.

This watch was produced in approx. 1997. I have tested this 29 year old watch and after initially powering up the watch by the recommended waving slowly from side to side about 400 times, I put the watch on and wore it the whole day and evening and it was fine, after leaving off overnight, it was stepping in the morning and required some more waving before wearing again with no issues. Regular daily wear will likely negate the need for this watch to be waved in the mornings. As with all kinetic watches, the older they are the less charge the capacitors will hold but as I said, this watch worked fine on test after powering up beforehand.

Strap/Bracelet:

The watch comes with the original stainless steel bracelet which shows stretching as you would expect from a watch this old but it is still fully functional.

As a great bonus, the watch comes with the sought after original Kinetic outer box, inner Plastic Kinetic box, Kinetic user manual, Kinetic Worldwide Guarantee booklet and original certificate of guarantee card – The full set.

The condition of the watch is fair with visible wear for a watch 29 years old. The bezel plating has worn, the case has scratches and marks commensurate with a watch this age, the Sapphlex Crystal is in very good condition (both front & back). The bracelet is stretched and shows scratching commensurate with being worn for the past 29 years. (Please refer to the photographs).
