A true classic — The 1601 was a long-running, highly popular, and iconic model, often considered the archetypal vintage Datejust. This vintage Rolex Datejust 1601 is the kind of watch that never goes out of style. With its 36mm stainless steel case, 18ct Rose Gold Fluted Bezel and Steel & 18ct Rose Gold Bracelet showcases the beautiful clear white dial. The 1601 model number was the first Rolex to have the iconic ‘Fluted Bezel’ and the Rose Gold & Steel version of the 1601 was the rarer of the three types, the other two being the steel with white gold and steel with yellow gold.
It’s a sleek everyday option that makes a statement. The automatic movement keeps things running smoothly, and the date window with the famous Cyclops magnifier sits neatly at 3 o’clock. It’s finished with the original Rolex Jubilee bracelet – super comfortable, with that timeless five-link design.
This watch dates to approximately 1974.
Case:This Certified Rolex Oyster Perpetual DateJust features a 36mm Oyster Steel Case with an 18ct Rose Gold Fluted Bezel. It incorporates a lock down signed screw rose gold crown and has the watch serial number engraved between the lugs at 6 o’clock (4139711) and model number engraved between the lugs at 12 o’clock (1601). Featuring a solid case back with contrasting brushed and polished stainless steel.
Dial:This Rolex DateJust has a beautifully clean white doorstop dial with Rose Gold indices a date window at 3 o’clock, rose gold hour, minute and sweeping central seconds hands. The dial has a rose gold Rolex logo at 12 o’clock and is signed 'Rolex Oyster Perpetual DateJust Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified & Swiss Made. Covering the dial is a Rolex sapphire crystal glass with the famous Cyclops date window.
Movement:
Powering this DateJust is a Rolex 1560 Automatic self-winding mechanical movement. With 25 jewels and a 42-44 hour power reserve, It is a Certified Chronometer (COSC).
Strap/Bracelet:The Rolex Oyster Perpetual DateJust features a brushed and polished Steel & 18ct Rose Gold Jubilee bracelet with polished ends and a brushed Oysterlock safety clasp, the sides of which also have nicely contrasting polished stainless steel. The bracelet sits perfectly on my 19cm wrist. This Jubilee bracelet is stretched as with most bracelets of this age but sits on the wrist perfectly well and is extremely comfortable.

The condition of this watch is very good for its age with minor scratches and marks commensurate with the age of the watch.
The watch comes in an original box but no papers.
The Watch has been checked with the Watch Register to ensure that it is not Stolen, Lost or the subject of Fraud (certificate in photos).
