The Oris BC4 Small Second Pointer Day  is one of the most mechanically unique everyday pilot watches in the BC4 collection. It blends Oris's iconic "Pointer" lineage with an industrial, instrument-gauge aviation aesthetic.

Here we have a Pre-owned Oris BC4 Small Second Pointer Day.

Case:

The case is a 42.7mm multi-piece stainless steel case with a mixture of polished and satin finishes. It has a plain brushed stainless steel bezel identifiable by the four  hex bolts. The dial is covered by a domed Sapphire Crystal with anti-reflective coating inside. The signed crown is a specialized Oris "Quick Lock" security crown (locks out with a 1/4 quarter-turn). The rear exhibition window is Mineral Glass with a polished stainless steel edging which houses various engraved information including the model number and watch serial number.

Dial:

This Oris is a beautiful thing to behold.  The dial pattern is a fine-pebble texture rather than a flat, glossy jet black. In shifting lighting, the finish leans closer to a dark charcoal grey to prevent high-gloss cockpit glare.

The dial has a Multi-Tiered Dial Layout: The Outer Ring: Features a traditional, crisp white printed 60-minute/seconds track with standard sub-divisions.

The Mid-Dial: Features the primary time display. It uses highly legible, flat printed Super-LumiNova Arabic numerals.

The rehault houses the circular day-of-the-week tracking pattern. The text for the days (MON through SUN) is printed dynamically along this rehault where the central red-tipped pointer hand sweeps to track the current day.

Sub-Dial and Aperture Texturing:

At 9 o'clock sits the Small Seconds sub-dial: The continuous sub-dial is slightly recessed into the main dial face to give the watch face depth. It features simple white hash marks that stand out neatly against the textured background.

At 3 o'clock sits the Date Aperture: Rather than a standard single-box cutout, it features an expanded vertical three-day window. It showcases a colour-matched black background with bold white numerals so it seamlessly flows with the main dial texturing

Movement:

The heart of the Oris BC4 is a Oris Calibre 645, this is a modified Swiss automatic movement developed by Oris. The foundation of the Calibre 645 is the ETA 2836-2, a premium day-date variation of the ultra-reliable ETA 2824-2, Oris then mount an in-house modification module on top. This module channels the daily mechanical jump into a central gear tracking a pointer hand, while shifting the ticking seconds gear away from the centre out to the 9 o'clock position. It has 27 jewels and a power reserve of 38 hours. It is a bi-directional automatic winder with a ball bearing rotor.

Strap/Bracelet:

This watch comes with the original premium leather two piece strap and an Innovative Clasp, It has a unique vertical-locking lever deployment clasp that adjusts strap length cleanly without requiring traditional outer strap loops. The model has a 19cm wrist.

This watch has been checked and certified as clear by ‘The Watch Register’ the Global Database of Lost, Stolen and Counterfeit Watches. This database covers a broad range of incidents including robberies, burglaries, snatches, frauds, postal losses, accidental losses and fakes.

Watch working on test.

The condition of this watch is Very Good with minimal scratches and marks commensurate with the age of the watch and careful ownership. There are two areas with heavier marks, these are one on a lug and one on the bottom of the bezel (both ringed in red on a photo) but these are barely noticeable when the watch is worn and do not impact on the general aesthetic. The leather strap shows wear but is perfectly functional and is in good used condition. This watch serial number denotes that this watch was produced in approximately 2008. (Please refer to the photographs).

The watch comes with an original inner box and a Sterling Vault Auctioneers Authenticity Card. There are no other papers or manuals

Please note that the movement has not been professionally tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense.

When purchasing a watch for delivery outside of the UK, all local Customs Authority charges i.e. VAT and import charges etc. are the responsibility of the ‘Buyer’ and are not included in the sale price of the watch.
