Pre-Owned Longines Octagonal ‘Royal Oak’ Quartz Ref 4898 – 1980’s

This is a lovely 1980s octagonal Longines Ref. 4898 with cream dial and Longines signed quartz movement. The watch features a quick-set date at 3 o'clock and a Genta inspired screw bezel. This "Royal Oak" style case and bezel shape is a great addition to any retro collection.

Case:

Beautiful stainless steel hexagonal case with an 18ct Gold Plated ‘Royal Oak’ inspired bezel. Width with crown 34mm, width without crown 32mm, between lugs 18mm, lug to lug length 35mm and a case thickness of 7mm. Solid snap on case back with the watch serial number and ‘stainless steel’ engraved.

Dial:

A lovely creamy white dial with clean Roman numerals, the black hour and minute hands look great against the dial as does the gold toned contrasting seconds hand, There is a date complication at 3 o’clock.

Movement:

The Longines L950.2 calibre movement is a high end quartz, with trimmer and quick set date. It has 11 jewels, so was made for the long term and is still running nicely (new battery fitted).

Bracelet:

A lovely stainless steel bracelet and folding clasp with a gold coloured Longines crest. The models wrist is 19cm but the fit is very tight, this would fit nicely on a 18cm wrist or smaller.

This model was produced in the 1980’s.

This watch presents in excellent condition for the year with scratches and marks commensurate with its age. There is a scratch across the case back but this does not deter from the overall look of this watch (see pictures).

The watch does not come with an original box or papers.
