Since 1957 Breitling has been producing the iconic SuperOcean range for professional and leisure divers. Over the years the progression of locking crowns, case sealings and glass materials has allowed the wearers ever-greater depths. Not to mention the increased legibility of the hands, bezels and hour markers, which without being clearly visible would make any divers watch redundant.
This unique example of the Breitling SuperOcean Steelfish celebrates the centenary of the MI-5 security services, Limited to only 900 pieces, which were only available to serving officers during 2009.
Case:
This prestigious watch comes with a robust 44mm solid brushed Stainless Steel case with a steel unidirectional bezel with standard 60 minute engravings and Breitling Rider Tabs (for ease of using the bezel). It has a screw down signed crown and an automatic helium valve at the 3 o’clock position. The solid rear screw in case back has the Centenary MI5 crest engraved along with Security Service MI5 text engraved. There is also the model number and Limited Edition number engraved.
Dial:
The unique dial is a bright sunburst blue with a concentric pattern. It features large luminous dot hour markers with matching hour and minute hands, the central seconds hand has a red tipped arrow head which contrasts beautifully with the blue dial. At the 9 o’clock position is the Security Service Crest and an applied number 5 where the 6 would normally go, this is a reference to MI5. At the 3 o’clock position is a date complication. The dial also has an applied Breitling Logo and various white script with a red ‘Automatic’ script which stands out amongst the rest.
Movement:
The heart of this watch is the Breitling Caliber 17, an automatic self-winding movement. It has bi-directional winding which makes this caliber more efficient. It is COSC certified and has a power reserve of 42 hours.
Strap/Bracelet:
The watch has a substantial matching brushed Stainless Steel bracelet with a folding signed clasp. The clasp still has the protective film on it.
Originally purchased in December 2009 and in unworn stickered collectors condition, this MI5 Breitling Superocean comes with its original inner & outer boxes, Travel case, instruction booklet, chronometer certificate, a yellow Breitling limited edition certificate and a second signed certificate with the history of MI5 and the crest with envelope and international warranty booklet.
This watch has been checked and certified as clear by ‘The Watch Register’ the Global Database of Lost, Stolen and Counterfeit Watches. This database covers a broad range of incidents including robberies, burglaries, snatches, frauds, postal losses, accidental losses and fakes.

The condition of this watch is exemplary, it is unworn and is as new with the exception of the inner box where the inside padding and surface shows some deteriation as all Breitling boxes do after a period of time. (please refer to the photographs).
